Liry's Jewelry has been part of Tampa since 1989. We are a family-owned, three-generation jewelry store built from nothing — started by a Cuban immigrant in a garage, grown into one of Tampa's most trusted jewelry destinations, and now shipping genuine gold and silver pieces to customers across the United States and around the world.
This is our story.
Where It Started: Zenaida and a Garage in Tampa
Liry's was founded by Zenaida, who emigrated from Cuba and settled in Tampa with her daughter Liredia. Zenaida's introduction to the jewelry business came through family — she began working in a relative's store in Ybor City, learning the trade from the ground up.
She didn't stay an employee for long. With a clear eye for quality and a determination to build something of her own, Zenaida began selling jewelry out of her garage. It wasn't glamorous, but it was hers. The business grew steadily through word of mouth, built on a simple principle she never abandoned: sell real jewelry at honest prices, and treat every customer like they matter.
When Zenaida had saved enough, she opened a small storefront on Armenia Avenue in Tampa. It wasn't long before the business outgrew that space. The family moved to the current location on Hanley Road — starting with a single unit. Today, Liry's occupies three units at that same address.
The name Liry's comes from Liredia, Zenaida's daughter and the store's current president. It was Zenaida's way of building something that would outlast her. It has.
Zenaida passed away after building the foundation that everything here stands on. Her standard — genuine materials, transparent pricing, no shortcuts — is the standard we still hold ourselves to every day.
The Second Generation: Liredia
Liredia came to Tampa from Cuba as a young girl. She grew up watching her mother build the business, learning what it meant to run a jewelry store with integrity in a city where you depend on repeat customers and word of mouth.
Today, Liredia serves as president of Liry's Jewelry. She has spent her career maintaining what her mother built while evolving the business with each passing decade — expanding the inventory, deepening relationships with suppliers, and holding the line on the quality standards that have defined the store since day one.
Her name is above the door. Her standards are in everything we sell.
The Third Generation: Daniel
Daniel is Liredia's son, born and raised in Tampa. He grew up in the store — learning how to evaluate gold, understand weights and karats, and talk to customers long before he was old enough to work the counter formally.
He left Tampa to study Business at Florida Atlantic University, but the pull of the family business proved stronger than a degree. Daniel left FAU to come home and help grow Liry's into what it is today.
What he brought back with him changed the business in ways that are still felt:
Handmade Miami Cuban link chains. Daniel recognized that the handmade Cuban link — the piece most associated with serious gold jewelry — was something Liry's could produce in-house at a level that no online retailer could match. He built that capability from the ground up. Today, Liry's handmade Cuban links are made in our Tampa store, hand-soldered and hand-filed by our jewelers, and shipped to customers across the country.
Direct Italian sourcing. Daniel established direct relationships with manufacturers in Italy for our machine-made chain inventory — cutting out the distributors and wholesalers that drive up prices everywhere else. When you buy a chain from Liry's, it comes from the source.
The website and online store. Before Daniel, Liry's was a Tampa store that served Tampa customers. He built the online presence that now reaches customers in every state and internationally. The transparency you see on our product pages — the published gram weights, the karat guarantees, the honest descriptions — that's Daniel's philosophy applied to every listing.
He currently runs the day-to-day operations of Liry's and is the reason this store competes nationally while remaining grounded in Tampa.
Our Team
A family business is only as good as the people who show up every day. Ours has been fortunate.
Maria has been with Liry's for over 20 years — one of the first people Liredia hired. She is a sales manager at the front of the store and knows our inventory, our customers, and our standards as well as anyone in the building. If you've visited us in person, there's a good chance Maria helped you.
Mariana joined us nearly 10 years ago as a family friend who came to work with us after high school and never left. She is the other sales manager at the front of the store, known for her attention to detail and the kind of customer communication that generates reviews mentioning her by name.
Kyle is Daniel's childhood best friend who joined the business about 7 years ago after finishing college. He runs Liry's online operations — managing the website, the digital presence, and everything that connects our Tampa store to customers who will never walk through our front door but trust us with significant purchases nonetheless.
What We Do
Liry's is a full-service jewelry store. That means more than selling jewelry.
We make jewelry. Our handmade Miami Cuban link chains and bracelets are produced in our Tampa store. Custom pieces — engagement rings, wedding bands, personalized pendants — are designed and built here.
We sell genuine gold and silver. Every piece we carry is exactly what it says it is. Solid 10kt, 14kt, 18kt, or 22kt gold. 925 sterling silver. We verify with an XRF machine and back every piece with a lifetime karat guarantee.
We repair jewelry. Broken clasps, damaged links, soldering, sizing — we handle repairs in-store for pieces purchased from us and pieces purchased elsewhere.
We do custom work. If you have a design in mind that doesn't exist in our collection, we can build it. Custom engagement rings, wedding bands, pendants, and more.
We clean and maintain jewelry. Pieces purchased from Liry's are cleaned at no charge for a year. Come in, drop it off, and leave with it looking new.
We sell watch batteries. Small service, but we've been doing it for decades and it keeps people coming back.
